Some of the previous unlockable upgrades now came as standard, like Glide and Stealth consume. Heller seemed a bit more charismatic than Alex, I liked him. A sort of different combat system, with 2 active powers at the same time, only 1 devastator type of attack and this new summon mechanic.

Upgrade system was sort of reworked, with mutations from those collectibles/OPs/lairs/RADNET and level-up upgrades. I could play the game after installing it with no need of weird fixes (unless the ones I tried on P1 futureproofed P2's problems). Collectibles had a bit of a hint on their location, same for those new Field OPs and Lairs. Then I got to Prototype 2, which was almost an upgrade in every sense, at least to me. You had to unlock everything, from Glide and Stealth consume to others, no problem for me in that regard either. Alex is kind of an edgy dude but I don't really have a problem with that.

To my surprise, Prototype 1 was less user-friendly-ish(?), with the 200 unmarked collectibles and 50 unmarked hints (with no help on how to find them in such a vast map!), performance issues on the get-go and somewhat tedious driving mechanics (I had to do this "destroy military with a tank" event completely disoriented, thinking that if I pressed the D key the tank would go to that direction relative TO THE HULL, and not the camera. I played both Prototype 1 and 2 between 2010-2015, when I was a kid, and recently replayed both just to see how they stood up today. There are occasional moments of monotony in some missions, but in general, developer Radical Entertainment has learned from its mistakes. Overall, Prototype 2 is a huge improvement over the enjoyable original. Helicopters and tanks in Prototype 2 look fantastic, especially as you're tearing them to pieces! New York looks really good, and is filled with life and detail that makes it a convincing environment to navigate.

Prototype 2's sound in general is excellent, with some pretty gruesome sound effects. Heller is an engaging character, with some excellent and often funny speech throughout the game. don't forget that Prototype 2 is a game with an 18 rating for a reason! Your available options increase as you progress, for example, turning a soldier into a biological bomb.

Infiltration of enemy compounds is also enjoyable, as you try to consume and take on the appearance of different people out of view of others. As the challenge increases, you'll need better tactics and more variety to overcome the enemies and bosses you'll meet. Heller's powers are what make Prototype 2 so much fun - leaping, climbing and flying around the city is excellent, and the combat is varied and never gets boring. By consuming other people, Sgt James Heller can assume their identities and read their memories. You'll do missions in all of these areas, on your way to confront Alex Mercer. There's green, which should be safe, yellow, which is poor and full of shanty towns, where the virus can be found, and red, where the virus is rampant. Prototype 2's New York Zero is split into areas, depending on the level of viral infection.
